On windows 7 or 8 go to this folder  C:\Users\your username \AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup or click on windows and click on > all programs click on folder call startup right click on it and click on open. Go to the folder and paste the short cut of the program you want to load when you turn on the computer. On windows xp the folder is  C:\Documents and Settings\%USERNAME%\Start Menu\Programs\Startup
For mac

Open up System Preferences (the icon in your dock with the gears) and head to the Accounts pane.
Click the padlock icon in the bottom left corner and type in your password when prompted.
Go to the Login Items tab at the top of the window, and click the plus sign at the bottom. Find the app you want to automatically launch, and hit Add. The next time you reboot, that app should launch with your desktop.   to remove the program from start up on the run (windows + r) type msconfig hit enter and click start-up tab and uncheck the programs you don’t want to load. For mac just click on minus button from  Login Items tab if you do not want to load that program when computer starts
